Icon Biggrin Intel to pay 1.25 Billion to AMD

AMD and Intel Announce Settlement of All Antitrust and IP Disputes

Intel Corporation and Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) today announced a comprehensive agreement to end all outstanding legal disputes between the companies, including antitrust litigation and patent cross license disputes.

In a joint statement the two companies commented, "While the relationship between the two companies has been difficult in the past, this agreement ends the legal disputes and enables the companies to focus all of our efforts on product innovation and development."

Under terms of the agreement, AMD and Intel obtain patent rights from a new 5-year cross license agreement, Intel and AMD will give up any claims of breach from the previous license agreement, and Intel will pay AMD $1.25 billion. Intel has also agreed to abide by a set of business practice provisions. As a result, AMD will drop all pending litigation including the case in U.S. District Court in Delaware and two cases pending in Japan. AMD will also withdraw all of its regulatory complaints worldwide. The agreement will be made public in filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

yay!

intel needs to make some advancements and let amd use them instead of amd doing all the work to have intel come along use/rename it to a buzzword.

Quickpath = hyper transport
hyperthread = symmetrical multi threading

i5 / i7 = intel = apples play thing (losing their individuality)
watch it apple will buy them out some day and or vice versa
(my Nostradamusesque "prediction" for the future)

although its nice intel makes all their over priced products in their own factory. = a fairly high quality product cant cant knock intel for their cpu's and probably a nice high wage for the workers.

Im a worker and I get barely enough wage. I don't know any one from intel they don't know me they just want my money so they can get their 4 week vacations and get in the allotted amount of golf most over payed individuals tend to want to do.

their graphics = horrible sub s3 quality SUB S3! and s3 is pretty bad.

i mean out sourcing who does that now a days?.

lower prices that cant be good because anything that doesn't rape your pockets of all contained cash cant be good.

i mean we all need 300$ mid range processors we don't need a 100$ quad core nooo that's garbage 300$ mid range all the way! Woot! yeah!
or a cheap tri core that's doing the same job as that 300$ midrange intel quadcore. no tri cores a waste of waffer.. thats it?

I mean I need an i7 and a gtx 295 to check my email and play counter strike.

Bah making a motherboard with integrated graphics that co-operates with its pcie counterpart that's no good either.

getting an already decent on board fully capable gpu built in with hybrid feature is garbage right?

intel gma lag/glitch/0fps fest all the way because intel roxxors i suppose?

yay for amd!

LOL... and yes, it was. I bet the AMD shareholders are thrilled as well at the payout.
