Looking at your PC specs you'll never get that machine to be fast. You can't upgrade a P II to run any useful software - the P 4 is dead now, and we've moved on to a new technology (dual / quad core chips).

I wouldn't waste any money on that computer.

You can get a budget system for around $300 Desktop Computers - PC Hangout Shop

And a nice rig for $800 or so

According to HP, you've got a 700 mhz Celeron processor. The computer also has 11 mp of integrated video memory
Product Specifications and What Ships in the Box HP Pavilion 6830 cn Desktop PC (US/CAN) - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

That's about as old a dinosaur as you'll see. There is no way to make that computer acceptably fast. A $300 new computer will run circles around it.

by the way aidensdad - I understand that you are upset, but there's no need to curse or use all caps.

if one wanted to push the current motherboard/case setup

i would upgrade the devices around the now Aged processor.

affix AS much ram as the motherboard can have installed.

get a faster hard drive

chances are it has an AGP slot there are some new Agp cards on the market
with uinfied video decoding so the old cpu wont have to worry about videos playing.

new high performance power supply

this rout may be more expensive and not offer as much of a performance increase as just going with the 300$ entry system's available todate.

dafunk - his computer only has PCI slots - so it couldn't even handle an AGP card.

ah well pci's pretty dead zotac still makes a geforce 6200 in pci flavor

it should still help with the movie playback

I suppose if its just got pci slots theres probably no sata ports = no new hard drive either

if the case is ATX formfactor
check out a upgrade combo package
gut the case of the old stuff and slap in the new stuff...

altho id suppose power supply would have to be upgraded as well to a 24pin instead of the old 20pin
